Description of Apprenticeship:

Well, first of all my name is Liz and I am 24 years old. I am incredibly passionate about making jewelry and ultimately would like to make it my career. I have been making jewelry for years. I started with beading, necklaces, bracelets and I would make my own clay beads. When I decided that I wanted to learn more complex skills I found the Drouhard Jewelers School in Mansfield and completed their first course. Before this class I had never soldered, handled a torch or set a stone. I feel that I learned quickly and am now very comfortable in all of these areas. When I returned from the class I purchased a flex shaft, a torch and all of the other essentials and continued improving my skills in the corner of my garage. That's where I've been ever since. I have been somewhat frustrated by the fact that I know exactly what my passion is and what I want to do with my life, but I really just don't know where to go from here. I don't have the means to continue with a bachelor's of arts degree, and nor do I think it would be the best way for myself personally to learn this trade. I am searching for a mentor who will take me under their wing and teach me everything they know. My real dream is to work for a company which makes engagement and wedding rings and other beautiful diamond jewelry. I feel like there's something so special and beautiful about those kinds of pieces of jewelry and I would love to be a part of something so meaningful to the buyer.

I'm sorry that this is so long! If anyone in the area is willing to have an apprentice that will work extremely hard with an incredible passion and willingness to listen and learn and grow in every aspect, please contact me. Thank you for your time.
